Krassato is a variety exclusive to the mount Olympus, the home to the ancient Greek Gods. It is prominent in the blend of renowned PDO Rapsani wines. Its grapes are also used to produce local wines.
Krassato gives wine a deep ruby color and a strong characteristic nose with notes of leather and sweet dark fruit. It is full-bodied, dense with mild tartness and a rather high alcoholic content. Krassato is ideal for aging in oak barriques, where it can evolve significantly with time.
Krassato matches perfectly with rich meat dishes with heavy sauce, as well as roast lamb.
