Avgoustiatis is a rare variety, found in select vineyards almost exclusively in the western Peloponnese. This grape matures quickly and is harvested in August, hence its name.
Avgoustiatis produces wines with deep vibrant color. It boasts aromas of caramel, chocolate and herbs, sometimes even ripe red fruit. Defined by its thin tannins and full body it is mildly acidic, high on alcohol and has a lasting aftertaste.
Wines of this grape tend to become more elaborate with time, so some bottle aging is recommended. Savour it with intense meats with sweet sauce i.e. duck breast with fruit confi, pork with marmalade, roast meat and mature cheese.
