In reality, Golden Selection is the new name of timeless classic Estate Chrisohoou, the winery’s flagship wine, a premium Naoussa. Made with 100% Xinomavro grapes from the Estate’s top vineyards and matured for 18 months in oak barrels, followed by a further 24 months in the bottle, this wine has always been one of the most popular in its high quality segment, especially given its great price.
So what’s changed in Gold Selection? Apart from the new, commanding label, which now puts it in sync with the rest of the estate’s label family, inside information reveals that the Chrisohoou winemaking team has introduced new oak barrels of higher toasting, which means that we should expect a smokier, spicier version of the wine’s typically mature Naoussa character.
Gold Selection by Estate Chrisohoou is currently making its debut with the wine’s 2013 vintage. Keep an eye out, it should be making its way to an outlet near you shortly!
